Not good news from the cath...The entire pulmonary conduit has shrunk in width from 10mm to between 3-5mm and has significant narrowing. The pulmonary valve has also deteriorated and his heart is having issues with backflow. Final conclusion is that he will need another surgery in the next few weeks. I'll update more tonight after our meeting with our cardiologist.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear this. I know this is the last thing you want to be facing at any time, least of all over the holidays. But praise God they did the cath when the did and discovered the problem so that they can fix it! Will be praying for wisdom for all involved...

I am so sorry to hear this news. I will be saying extra prayers for your family.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear this. Let me just tell you, we have been there. In the exact same shoes as you. I know how scary it is. I remember so vividly Andrew's cath where they spent 5 hours working on trying to open his narrow pulmonary arteries with no success. When the doctor came in and pulled us into a room and told us he needed to place stents in them, which would automatically buy him an extra surgery (which we thought he'd never need). It was the most devastating day, but it was the day I learned so much too. I learned that we are on this journey forever, and it will never be "over." And I found peace with that. I still look at that as the time I really grew and learned what it means to be a "heart mom." It is learning to hang on when the ride swings you out of control and takes you in a different direction than you thought. I am thinking of you guys tonight, because I know how sad you must be. :( Just know that I understand, and I am praying for you (and that sweet boy!)
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Jen
